　　At 2: 28 pm on May 12, 2008, a devastating earthquake of magnitude 8 occurred in Wenchuan, Sichuan. At that time, Jia Xiaolong was having his first class in the afternoon.

　　When the earthquake came, the classroom shook violently and the ceiling kept falling. The teacher evacuated the students and ran outside the classroom. Jia Xiaolong also ran out with his classmates. However, before he ran far, his eyes suddenly became "dark". I don’t know how long it took. When he woke up from the darkness, he found himself trapped in a "small box" surrounded by ruins. The desire to survive made him start groping around and save himself.

　　When Jia Xiaolong successfully dug up the ruins and came out, there were ruins and people running around everywhere. After the aftershocks hit, the cement blocks the size of fists fell, and people carried the victims and the injured out. Some of them were former classmates, but now they are motionless. Such a scene made Jia Xiaolong experience the tragic earthquake.

　　After the success of self-rescue, he did not go to the playground to take refuge, but started the rescue work on the spot. For the original choice, Jia Xiaolong himself couldn’t tell what was driving it. "Now I think about it, it’s actually quite scary, but at that time, my mind was blank and I might not have time to be afraid."

　　This year, it is the ninth year of Jia Xiaolong’s enlistment. The military uniform is the costume he has worn the most in the past nine years. He wears it for training, attendance and rest. In the first two years of enlistment, I didn’t even dare to take off my sleep in order to prepare for an emergency gathering at night. At the beginning, Jia Xiaolong had other choices. He even made an agreement with Sichuan Luzhou Police Academy to enter the police academy as soon as he reached the age. But in the end, he chose to enlist in the army in 2009.

　　Jia Xiaolong has special feelings for military uniforms. On May 14th, 2008, the third day of the Wenchuan earthquake, Jia Xiaolong returned from the hospital. Walking on the streets of Dujiangyan, which was seriously affected by the disaster, soldiers dressed in camouflage uniforms were all around. Although they looked tired and haggard, they were still rushing around to save people. Jia Xiaolong said that he admired these soldiers.

　　In 2009, some troops went to Dujiangyan to recruit soldiers, and Jia Xiaolong, who had not graduated from high school, suddenly had the idea of being a soldier. In order to convince his parents, Jia Xiaolong and his father had a long talk at the dinner table. On that day, it was the first time that Jia Xiaolong accompanied his father to drink. In his father’s words, "If you drink wine, you will be an adult, and you will be responsible for yourself." With the consent of his parents, the next day, accompanied by his father, he went to the conscription office.

　　At that time, the soldier in charge of conscription asked Jia Xiaolong why he wanted to be a soldier. He replied, "I want to wear a military uniform, which is very handsome."

　　From 2009 to 2016, Jia Xiaolong served in Shuangyushu Squadron of Haidian District Fire Brigade in Beijing for 7 years, participated in more than 4,000 rescue and disaster relief, and won the third-class merit many times. During his seven-year rescue career, Jia Xiaolong passed by death several times.

　　In 2016, the gas explosion in Beitaipingzhuang Street in Beijing was the closest to his death.

　　At that time, North Taipingzhuang was carrying out the renovation of rain and sewage pipes in old residential areas, and the engineering team accidentally cut off the gas pipeline, causing leakage, and then an explosion ignited a building.

　　After receiving the police, Shuangyushu Squadron of Haidian District Fire Brigade quickly rushed to the scene and heard that there were still trapped people in the fire. Jia Xiaolong rushed in first. Despite wearing a combat suit, the temperature around him still makes him feel "he is going to be baked."

　　In retrospect, Jia Xiaolong was also afraid. When parents, sister and girlfriend ask about his work, Jia Xiaolong always changes the subject. He didn’t want to worry his relatives, so he just kept it a secret. "Ask a few more times, and if I don’t say it, they won’t ask."

　　Jia Xiaolong will also joke with his comrades-in-arms, "I will take charge of water supply in the back, and you will go." But when he really goes to the police, he always rushes to the front.
