Toyota is recalling some imported Lexus RX300 vehicles

Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. submitted a recall report to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine on behalf of Toyota Motor Corporation. Due to defects in crankshaft pulleys, some imported 2004-2005 Lexus (Lexus) RX300 vehicles will be recalled from December 1, 2011. According to the company’s statistics, 426 vehicles were involved in the Chinese mainland, and the production date was June 1, 2004 to March 31, 2005.

The reason for the defect is that the amount of adhesive applied between the outer wheel of the pulley and the anti-vibration rubber is insufficient, resulting in peeling between the outer wheel and the rubber during use, the pulley idling, resulting in abnormal sound, and the charging warning light is lit. In extreme cases, the steering power pump belt may fall off, resulting in a sudden increase in steering operation force, which poses a potential safety hazard.

Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will directly notify the user in the form of a letter, asking the user to send the vehicle to the nearest LEXUS (Lexus) dealership in time; professional maintenance technicians will replace the crankshaft pulley of the vehicle after confirmation. The replacement operation takes about 1.6 hours.

At the same time, in response to this problem, Toyota Motor Company will implement recall and other disposal measures for ALPHARD (Elfa), ESTIMA (transliteration: Estima), KLUGER (transliteration: Kuruga), HIGHLANDER (Highlander), HARRIER (transliteration: Haliya), LEXUS (Lexus) RX300/330/400h, WINDOM (transliteration: Wendom), LEXUS (Lexus) ES300/330, AVALON (Avron), CAMRY (Camry), SOLARA (transliteration: Solara), ENSINA (transliteration: Senna), etc. in North America, Japan, Europe and other countries and regions.

If a car owner uses the above overseas markets to sell relevant vehicles in China for specific reasons or has any other questions, please call the manufacturer’s service center for consultation. If it is confirmed that it belongs to the scope of this implementation, Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will also replace the crankshaft pulley of the vehicle free of charge.

The manufacturer confirmed that the LEXUS RX400h, LEXUSES, Elfa, Previa, Highlander, Camry, etc. sold in the Chinese market did not use pulleys produced by the supplier during the period of poor smearing, and are not involved in this recall.
