Regarding heat stroke, the authoritative answer from the National Health and Wellness Commission has come!
CCTV News:On July 15th, the National Health and Wellness Commission issued an authoritative answer on heat stroke.
First, what is heat stroke?
Heat stroke is the most serious emergency related to high temperature, that is, severe heatstroke, which is a serious fatal disease with skin burning, consciousness disorder (such as delirium, convulsion, coma) and multiple organ dysfunction. It is the most serious type of heatstroke, and once it happens, the mortality rate is extremely high. According to the different causes and susceptible people, heatstroke can be divided into labor heatstroke and non-labor heatstroke (also known as classic heatstroke).
Second, why do you get heatstroke?
Climatic factors with high temperature and humidity and high-intensity physical activity are the main risk factors leading to heat stroke.
Classical heatstroke is mainly caused by high temperature and/or high humidity, and there is usually no intense physical activity. Labor-induced heatstroke is mainly caused by the imbalance between heat production and heat dissipation caused by high-intensity physical activity.
3. What are the common symptoms of heatstroke?
Common symptoms of heatstroke are:
1. Elevated body temperature: Elevated body temperature is the main feature of heatstroke. The core body temperature of patients is above 40℃.
2. Symptoms of the central nervous system: dysfunction of the central nervous system is the main feature of heatstroke, and serious damage can occur in the early stage, manifested as delirium, lethargy, seizures, coma, etc. Other abnormal manifestations of nervous system may occur, including strange behavior, hallucination, kyphosis, denervation and rigidity. Some patients can leave long-term damage to the central nervous system in the later stage, mainly manifested as inattention, memory loss, cognitive impairment, language disorder, ataxia and so on.
3. Other symptoms: headache, nausea, skin redness, increased skin temperature, shortness of breath, increased heart rate, muscle spasm or weakness.
Four, the scene should be how to first aid?
Heat stroke can be life-threatening. While trying to cool the patient down, others around you should call the emergency number.
1. Move the patient to a cool place.
2, no matter what method is used, quickly cool the patient. Such as soaking the patient in cold water in the bathtub; Put the patient under a cold shower; Spray the patient with cold water for watering the flowers; Wipe the patient’s body with cold water; Cold wet towel or ice pack cold compress head, armpit and thigh root; When the weather is dry, wrap the patient in a sheet or clothes soaked in cold water and blow it with a fan.
3. The muscles of patients with heatstroke may have involuntary convulsions. In this case, patients should be prevented from hurting themselves. Don’t put anything in the patient’s mouth and don’t try to feed the patient with water. If the patient vomits, turn the patient’s body over and make him lie on his side to ensure that his respiratory tract is unobstructed and avoid aspiration.
5. What circumstances require timely medical treatment?
In case of any of the following situations, you should seek medical advice in time:
1, the body temperature continues to rise, even more than 40℃, should seek medical advice in time.
2. Headache: When you have persistent headache in a high temperature environment or after heavy physical labor, you should go to the hospital in time.
3, muscle spasm: in a high temperature environment or after heavy physical labor, the whole body muscles, especially the muscles of the limbs, unconsciously twitch, you should seek medical advice in time.
4, shallow breathing: breathing speed is accelerated, more than 20 times/minute, inhalation and exhalation volume is small, you should seek medical attention in time.
5, nausea: I feel like vomiting, but I can’t spit it out. At this time, I should seek medical advice in time.
In case of any of the following conditions, the patient should be sent to the hospital immediately or assisted to dial 120:
1. Coma: loss of consciousness, slow or unresponsive to external stimuli;
2, extremely weak: I feel that I have no strength and can hardly move;
3. Vague consciousness: unable to accurately perceive people or things around you, such as not knowing where you are or what others are saying;
4, delirium: insanity, nonsense;
5, epilepsy: involuntary convulsions of the whole body muscles, no consciousness, no response to external stimuli.
Six, prevention first, early detection, early treatment
Prevention is the key to reduce the fatality rate of heatstroke. The most effective preventive measures are to avoid high temperature (high humidity) and unventilated environment, reduce and avoid the risk factors of heatstroke, ensure adequate rest time and avoid dehydration, thus reducing the incidence and mortality of heatstroke.
