Then, at the moment when the value orientation is diversified, how is the spirit of model workers enriched in the new period and how does its characteristics evolve?
In Xu Hong, an alumina producer, we may find the answer: in 23 years, over 8,000 days, he guarded several settling tanks, participated in six major scientific research projects, created three operation methods named after individuals, put forward 120 suggestions for enterprises, and won 28 individual and collective honors.
In the past 20 years, Xu Hong has practiced the spirit of model workers in the new era with his own practical actions: love and dedication, strive for first-class, work hard, be brave in innovation, be indifferent to fame and fortune, and be willing to contribute.
Work clothes standing
At 5: 30 in the morning, Xu Hong got up on time, grabbed the work clothes and put them on, straightened the collar and smoothed the front of the work clothes by hand, and made a slight "brushing" sound when the palm slipped. "Not bad!" This work suit has just been changed, and it still retains the softness and texture of woven cotton thread.
Xu Hong can’t remember which set of work clothes this is. No matter which set of work clothes, the wearing time will not exceed one month. When the front becomes stiff and stiff, the days when this set of work clothes accompanies him will not be long.
In 1993, 19-year-old Xu Hong graduated from Shandong Aluminum Technical School and went to Shandong Branch of China Aluminum Group. As soon as he entered the factory, he was assigned to Bayer Process Workshop. He was diligent and eager to learn, and he quickly grew into a technical "master" in his post. With the gradual expansion of the production scale of Bayer process, shandong aluminum industry Company decided to expand the production scale and set up the second alumina plant. As a post technical expert, Xu Hong also took up the post of workshop team leader, who worked for more than 20 years.
Xu Hong is mainly responsible for the settling process of the Second Alumina Plant. Due to production needs, he has been dealing with alkali and mud for a long time. In order to reduce costs and increase efficiency, Xu Hong basically did a lot of maintenance work.
As the person in charge of the settlement process, Xu Hong takes the team members into the mud every day, and the work clothes that have been baptized by alkali mud are dirty and hard every day. This "good friend" who has been accompanying Xu Hong was "abandoned" when he got home. When his work clothes were thrown on the floor of the bathroom, he often stood on the ground.
"He has never had the concept of working 8 hours a day. He often switches processes in a high temperature environment of more than 50 degrees, and it takes one day. In order to ensure pulp transportation, he often steps directly in the mud, and his clothes are soaked in the mud every day." My wife often jokingly said to Xu Hong, "When I get paid in the future, you must give me half. Your clothes are extremely difficult to wash, and you must brush them fiercely, otherwise the sundries on them will not come down at all. Give me half of your salary at all."
Indulge in solving problems
The second alumina plant of Shandong Branch of China Aluminum Group, where Xu Hong is located, is the first enterprise in the industry to try Bayer process to produce alumina. Because of the active chemical properties of aluminum, it is difficult to reduce it by general reducing agents, and it is difficult to smelt aluminum. It is precisely because of this that aluminum was once called "silver gold". With the discovery of Bayer process, it is possible to produce alumina on a large scale. Today, 95% aluminum companies in the world are using Bayer process to produce alumina.
Bayer aluminum production requires that concentrated sodium hydroxide solution be used to convert aluminum hydroxide into sodium aluminate, and aluminum hydroxide can be precipitated again by diluting and adding aluminum hydroxide seeds, and the remaining sodium hydroxide solution can be reused to treat the next batch of bauxite.
Xu Hong’s work area is the process of re-precipitating aluminum hydroxide. In this process, caustic soda has become a "partner" that Xu Hong loves and hates in his work. It can precipitate useful substances in the ore, and it will also bring major production safety hazards.
"Perseverance is more important than physical strength when working in a high temperature and high alkali environment." Xu Hong said that in order to ensure transportation, each shift has to go to the outdoor temporary relay pump to change the packing. Winter is the hardest. I step on the cold mud with all my equipment, and my clothes are just like being soaked in the mud every day.
Due to the harsh conditions and narrow space, once the pipeline is blocked, a group of people are needed to solve the problem. The red mud residue at 50 degrees Celsius is discharged from the pipeline, with a pungent smell of lye. Alkaline liquor is easy to harden, and if it is not cleaned up quickly, it will lead to blockage and it will be difficult to continue production. When doing homework, most of them are flushed and dug, and the water and red mud are mixed and splashed on the clothes to avoid it.
In the process of aluminum hydroxide precipitation, the settling tank also has an important influence on the final output of alumina. If the amount of precipitation is small, the ore materials are not well utilized. If the precipitation is thorough, the rapidly settling sediment will have a great impact on the settling tank. The difficulty in conveying red mud and muddy settling tank are the two most difficult problems to overcome. So the degree of precipitation is the key point of control.
For more than 20 years, Xu Hong has been guarding several pots in the settling tank, and the height of the pots has also increased from 5 meters to 20 meters. "I am addicted to the feeling of solving problems, which is an obsessive sense of accomplishment." Xu Hong said.
Be an eagle good at flying
In 2015, China’s non-ferrous metal industry entered the most difficult year since the 21st century. The aluminum price broke through the 10,000 yuan/ton mark that has not fallen below for more than 20 years, and the degree of difficulty exceeded expectations. Affected by the market, the production and operation of Chinalco Shandong enterprises also encountered an unprecedented "cold winter". In order to get rid of the predicament quickly, the second alumina plant took the lead in opening the prelude to market-oriented reform, and Xu Hong’s workshop was transformed into a settling process, and Xu Hong became a technical specialist in the process through competition.
"This is a factory that several generations have struggled for, and it is a big family on which we live. Everyone is a member of this big family. Only when the home is good can we be good. If we have difficulties at home, how can we not shoulder the heavy burden? " In this cold winter of aluminum industry, the Shandong man’s heart ignited a raging heat.
Xu Hong spends nearly 20 hours staring at his post every day, and even when he gets home, his mobile phone will keep ringing. Every day, he must look at the site and safety exposure platform, process control group and pipeline group in the settlement south workshop in the mobile phone WeChat. Generally, the problem should not be handled for more than two hours. You can feel the spirit of "screw" and the power of persistence from Xu Hong.
"I used to be a squad leader and brought 10 people. It was 10 families. Now, with more people, I carry more family expectations. The factory also named the model worker innovation studio after me, and I want to make a career. If the factory benefits well, we can be better. " Xu Hong said.
Xu Hong once wrote such a passage in his notes: "You must be an eagle who is good at flying, not a bird who muddles along and is content with the status quo, and you must never waste your life."
Since he entered the factory in 1993, Xu Hong has won the titles of National Model Worker, National May 1st Labor Medal, Shandong Enriching People and Prospering Shandong Labor Medal, Top Ten Gold Medal Workers in Zibo and Revitalizing Zibo Labor Medal by his own efforts. Facing the honor, Xu Hong said that getting a national model worker is a driving force and a heavy pressure. This honor is not only my own, but also the enterprise’s.
