With the coming of graduation season and summer vacation, businesses once again focus on the group of students whose spending power is gradually increasing. Among them, many medical beauty institutions have also joined the competition in the summer economy.

"Summer beauty", "graduation plastic surgery special" and so on, behind the numerous advertising campaigns of medical and aesthetic institutions, are the growing market for medical and aesthetic plastic surgery for students in recent years.

However, in the real social competition, can "beauty" really bring more opportunities? In the mixed medical beauty market, how to ensure the safety of "carved" beauty?

  Summer plastic surgery fever

The number of customers in plastic surgery institutions has increased sharply, including many middle school students.

On June 8, Shen Hui walked out of the college entrance examination room. Throwing down her books, she has prepared a gift for the coming college life — — Plastic surgery

In the eyes of this 18-year-old girl, all "metamorphosis" must start with improving the face value.

"Yan value society, I can’t lose at the starting line because of my looks." Shen Hui believes that outstanding appearance means making more friends, having a decent love and even more job opportunities in the future.

In fact, in Shen Hui’s circle of friends, plastic surgery has become the first step for many high school girls to enter the university: "Two girlfriends who have a good relationship with me, one is going to open her eyes and the other is going to do facial fat filling."

On June 12th, accompanied by her mother, Shen Hui came to a plastic surgery institution in Shanghai to make an appointment for double eyelid surgery. The staff told her that she would not be able to rank until the end of June.

The reporter visited a number of plastic surgery institutions in Beijing and found that in order to welcome summer customers to their homes, many institutions have launched plastic surgery "summer benefits" activities for students, such as showing their student ID cards, which means they can enjoy discounts.

Indeed, the proportion of students who use summer vacation for plastic surgery is very high. Xu Xiaofei, a medical plastic surgeon in Bosili, Shanghai, explained that every summer from June to August, the number of plastic surgeons will be more than 80% than that in normal months, and the vast majority of them come from student groups.

In 2018, a survey report of the medical beauty industry estimated that the medical beauty market in China had exceeded 220 billion. From the perspective of consumers’ age, among the people who chose medical beauty and plastic surgery in 2018, the proportion under the age of 19 was 18.81%, and the number of people aged 20-25 was the largest, accounting for 40.41%.

"From July to August after the college entrance examination, many prospective college students or college students who are about to graduate will use their holidays for plastic surgery." Previously, Guo Shuzhong, who was the chairman of the branch of Plastic Surgery Society of Chinese Medical Association, is currently the president of Beijing United Lige First Medical Beauty Hospital. In the plastic surgery hospital where Guo Shuzhong is located, the annual summer surgery volume will increase by more than 30% than usual: "Even in one day, I have to receive more than 40 surgeries".

In addition, Guo Shuzhong said that from the age point of view, the cosmetic surgery group is also showing a trend of younger age. In recent years, many middle school students will also consult plastic surgery projects with their parents after the senior high school entrance examination.

"But we don’t recommend cosmetic surgery for children under the age of 18." Guo Shuzhong believes that if you are too young to choose plastic surgery, the aesthetics are not mature enough, and it is easy to blindly follow suit; Secondly, the bones are still in the growth stage because they are too young, and there is a high risk of rashly performing surgery.

Good looks like a prestigious university diploma?

In Shen Hui’s view, the whole formation function is exchanged for more social possibilities and job opportunities. But in Xu Shan’s mind, becoming beautiful is a fashion "just need".

"Why do girls like to take selfies? Because I look better in the selfie. " Xu Shan, who is a freshman at a university in Guangzhou, just spent more than 10,000 yuan on rhinoplasty in early June this year.

Recalling herself before operation, Xu Shan always suspected that her nose was too low and her nose was wide. After comparing her retouching, Xu Shan had the idea of plastic surgery: "My nose should be as beautiful as Gao Yuanyuan."

Walking into a local plastic surgery institution, Xu Shan took out a photo of Gao Yuanyuan and told the doctor, "That’s what I want."

Snake face, innocent eyes, online celebrity nose … … Guo Shuzhong often hears similar plastic surgery needs: "Many young people will take a star photo and let the doctor shape it according to a certain part." Guo Shuzhong said that sometimes the operating room will be hung with photos provided by plastic surgery subjects, and they will do as they like.

"Everyone loves beauty, but it is not advisable to blindly pursue the appearance of a star." In Guo Shuzhong’s view, young people are affected by the star effect, and there is a certain blindness: "This kind of nose looks good on other people’s faces, but it is not necessarily suitable on another face."

At the same time, Guo Shuzhong pointed out that it is also undesirable to choose plastic surgery in pursuit of fashion: "The popular online red face this year may change in a few years, but the appearance does not change if you want."

In addition, in the statistics of other cosmetic reasons, the data of the above-mentioned medical and beauty industry survey report shows that more than half of women choose cosmetic surgery to please themselves; Followed by work needs, accounting for 19%.

"A good appearance is like a diploma from a famous university. It will be a good stepping stone. Under the same conditions, employers may consider those who are outstanding in appearance. " Xu Xiaofei told reporters that there are indeed many young people who will have plastic surgery in order to find a job.

Male college students who choose plastic surgery:

"If you can’t get into the show business, you can be online celebrity."

Nowadays, the pursuit of beautiful appearance is no longer just a "privilege" for women. With the rise of economic level and the formation of eyeball society, many men are also on the road of plastic surgery.

In the plastic surgery institution where Xu Xiaofei is located, the number of male customers served in the past two years has gradually increased. According to Xu Xiaofei, many of them are art candidates or college students.

Shao Lei, a boy majoring in acting in a film and television college in Sichuan, has always had high demands on his image. Like girls who love beauty, Shao Lei told reporters that boys in the same dormitory will dress up carefully before going out or recording short video programs.

This summer vacation, he is about to enter the plastic surgery hospital for the third time and prepare for chin pad surgery.

"Even if you can’t enter the entertainment industry in the future, it’s good to be a online celebrity like Li Jiaqi." In Shao Lei’s mind, because he studied film and television performances, his external image will largely determine his future development. For this reason, Shao Lei has undergone double eyelid and abdominal plastic surgery in two years since she went to college, with a total cost of nearly 100,000 yuan.

Like Shao Lei, there are no fewer men who pursue perfection in looks. The results of the above-mentioned medical and beauty industry survey show that the average customer price of male medical and beauty consumers in China is 2.75 times that of women, reaching 7025 yuan, far exceeding the average customer price of 2551 yuan for women.

"It is not surprising that men have plastic surgery, but if they have plastic surgery many times or repeatedly, they should think about whether they have mental illness." Similar to Shao Lei’s frequent cosmetic surgery, Guo Shuzhong reminded that many people will later become fans of cosmetic surgery and fall into the physical obstacle of "fantasy ugliness".

Guo Shuzhong explained that the so-called physical disorder is to pay too much attention to one’s appearance or a certain body part, and always feel that there are defects. In Guo Shuzhong’s case, there was a plastic surgeon who performed 13 operations on the corners of his mouth: "They will keep repairing it, even if it doesn’t look as bad as they described".

There are many "black workshops" in the market.

Industry norms need to be solved urgently

According to the estimation of industry report, the market size of medical beauty in China has exceeded 220 billion yuan. Compared with developed countries, there is still much room for growth. However, with the support of strong demand, all kinds of chaos in the medical beauty market have also been frequently exposed — —

In January this year, a 23-year-old online female anchor in Fuyang, Anhui Province committed suicide by jumping off a building because of plastic surgery failure; Earlier, there were media reports that a 19-year-old girl in Guiyang, Guizhou Province died unexpectedly during rhinoplasty … …

Many consumers walk into plastic surgery institutions with the pursuit of beauty, but they end up in a life-threatening quagmire. Then, how should ordinary people identify professional medical plastic surgery institutions? Guo Shuzhong bluntly said: "It’s very difficult".

Guo Shuzhong said that the lack of qualification, the proliferation of counterfeit drugs and the lack of approval for operation are the outstanding problems in the plastic surgery institutions on the market.

He introduced that many illegally operated plastic surgery institutions will also provide consumers with plastic surgery projects such as double eyelid cutting and face-lifting needles at low prices: "Although it is a minor operation, it still has strict requirements for disinfection of medical facilities and environmental sanitation. For example, many small workshops can’t guarantee the dosage of drugs or even use ineffective drugs or counterfeit drugs. "

In fact, according to the law, regular cosmetic surgery institutions need to have the practice license of medical institutions and place them in a conspicuous position for consumers to check; At the same time, plastic surgeons also need to have certificates such as doctor qualification certificate, practicing doctor certificate and medical beauty attending doctor qualification certificate before they can operate.

Guo Shuzhong reminded that young people should carefully consider whether to have plastic surgery or not, and don’t blindly follow suit. Before deciding to do plastic surgery, you should check the relevant information to know something, and put an end to surgery in unqualified beauty shops. At the same time, we should also actively communicate with doctors before operation, show the requirements of plastic surgery, know the risks of surgery, and sign an operation contract.
