Overlooking the Jiuqu Bay scenic spot in the middle and lower reaches of the Wulagai River in Inner Mongolia, the low mountains on both sides of the river are gentle and lush, and the river meanders like a silver Hada embedded in the green land.

On the Inner Mongolia prairie, not only the scenery is picturesque, but also the pastoral industry is constantly adjusted, the tourism industry is constantly developing, and the income of farmers and herdsmen is obvious. In the northern part of the motherland, a beautiful and peaceful picture of people’s livelihood is slowly unfolding.

Create a new mode of getting rich through tourism, and turn green mountains into golden mountains and silver mountains.

At the foot of Rihan Mountain (Banla Mountain) in the remote Luhai, Haoletugaole Town, Xiwuzhumuqin Banner, Xilin Gol, the birch forest is slender and tall, the golden lotus is in full bloom, the grassland is fresh and lush, and the scattered yurts are full of cattle and sheep and horses. July is the tourist season, and the brain stem Baolige Gacha, the "most beautiful village" and "China ethnic minority village", is full of tourists.

In the interview, the local people told us that the brain stem Baolige Gacha is rich in water resources and there are many kinds of plants, including more than 100 kinds of medicinal plants and more than 30 kinds of trees. It is rich in mushrooms, bracken, yellow flowers and other specialties, and there are more than 200 kinds of wild animals, such as wild boar, hare and deer. It is one of the regions with the longest grassland culture and the most complete preservation in Inner Mongolia so far.

"In the past two years, the local infrastructure has been gradually improved, with 100% access to roads and 80% access to electricity & hellip; …” Mori Gendalai, secretary of the Party Committee of Haoletu Gaole Town, tells about the changes in the brain stem Baolige Gacha.

On this basis, the "Shepherd’s Home" has sprung up. Here, food, shelter and play are integrated, and ecological culture tour, nomadic culture tour and folk customs tour are combined to bring tourists different grassland experiences. "On the basis of developing animal husbandry, we will continue to increase the development of the tertiary industry, so that animal husbandry and tourism can develop harmoniously and complement each other." Mo Rigen Dalai said with a smile.

Leave the "Banla Mountain" in Xiwuzhumuqin Banner and come to the "Horizon Grassland" Wulagai. The scenery here is still intoxicating, not only the picturesque Jiuqu Bay, but also the grassland Lingquan Bulinquan and the location of the movie Wolf Totem. These scenic spots are not far apart and strung into a complete tourist route, laying a good foundation for the local development of global tourism. "Wulagai officially began to develop tourism in 2016 and experienced a process from scratch." Hu Mingkai, director of the Culture, Sports, Radio, Film and Television Tourism Bureau of Wulagai Management Zone, lamented.

However, the development of grassland tourism should be organically combined with grassland protection. "In the case of meeting the basic needs of tourists, it is necessary to minimize the damage to the grassland ecological environment caused by the development of tourist attractions." Hu Mingkai introduced that Wulagai attaches great importance to grassland ecological protection while developing characteristic tourism. For example, wooden trails are specially laid in Jiuqu Bay Scenic Area to prevent grassland from being destroyed by human beings; Arrange the accommodation places for tourists outside the scenic spot to prevent pollution in the scenic spot.

"Grassland herders eat tourist meals, and we should cherish the green mountains and waters and take good care of the blue sea and blue sky." Tara, a herdsman in Jiuqu Bay, said.

Smart pasture and ecological pasture bring new atmosphere to the optimization of industrial structure.

In a 6,000-square-meter cowshed in Hersge Ranch, Wulagai Management Area, herders are feeding hundreds of beef cattle with special formula feed. "The varieties we introduced from abroad, including Angus cattle and Simmental cattle, can only reach 250 kilograms in three years, and these cattle can reach 350 kilograms in 12 months." Hugue Gilletu, head of Hersge Green Industry Import and Export Co., Ltd. said.

Traditional animal husbandry is overloaded with grazing, which brings damage to grassland ecology and is not conducive to the sustainable development of animal husbandry. What impressed Hugue Gilletu was that when he first came to the management area three years ago, the grazing time here was six to seven months, but now it has been shortened to three months. "Now in mid-July, many cows are still locked up, just to protect the grassland ecology."

Not only that, the company also provides local herdsmen with improved cows (bulls), embryos, frozen semen, technical training, mechanical equipment, order recovery of calves, procurement of high-quality pasture, etc., and has established a joint mechanism of sharing interests and risks with herders, which has led to the development of standardized scale farming by cattle farmers in the surrounding areas and even the whole alliance, and promoted the income of herders.

On the prairie, there are not only ecological pastures, but also many smart pastures.

In Saihantala Gacha, Mandula Town, Sunite Zuoqi, Xilin Gol League, 50-year-old Baolidao Bater, like most herders on the grassland, often rode horses or motorcycles to drive livestock to graze in his early years, and went out for a whole day. However, he never dreamed that he could now sit at home with his mobile phone in front of the screen and manage more than 600 sheep.

In the new energy room of Bater’s home in Baolidao, the shepherd only needs to click the mouse, and the high-definition images such as the position of the flock and the passing vehicles can all appear on the smart TV screen. In addition, the mobile smart ranch App can also remotely control the switch of the sink, so that herders don’t have to go to the pasture to feed the cattle and sheep. "Nearly 10,000 yuan of complete equipment, after government subsidies, can be installed for only 2,000 yuan." Baolidao Bater said.

Nowadays, more and more herders use "smart grazing" like Bater in Baolidao. Chen Xiaogang, deputy director of the Finance Bureau of Sunite Zuoqi, introduced that with the support of the financial modern agricultural development project funds, the Banner Finance Bureau intensified the construction of smart animal husbandry, and developed and built a comprehensive service platform for sheep traceability big data in Su Nite. The project covers 7 Sumu towns and 49 Gacha in the whole banner, and the relevant supporting facilities have been completed nearly 80%, which has provided services for 430 herders and 195,000 animals.

After bidding farewell to the days of "chasing sheep" and grazing, Baolidao Bater used his spare time to run a Mongolian restaurant. "Once the mobile phone monitors that the moving speed of the flock is abnormal or beyond the grazing range, the system will call the police and I will drive back from the restaurant in time." Baolidao Bater said with alacrity.

Grassland herders enter urban communities and start a new model of home-based care for the elderly.

In Dabu Hillert Community, Bayanchagan Sub-district Office, Xilinhot City, waves of songs and piano sounds came from Aiqile Herdsmen’s Pension Park. In the park, some old people are rehearsing and dancing, some are playing the piano and singing, some are playing chess and cards, and some are cutting paper, embroidering and practicing calligraphy.

Huang Decai, a 62-year-old Mongolian man, lived in Aiqi Paradise three years ago. Compared with living in his own yurt, it is much more convenient here. For example, every morning, the restaurant will prepare breakfast. After dinner, you can have tea and chat with the old people in the park in the leisure square, or go to the activity center to exercise. "Almost all the herdsmen who used to live in the same village with themselves have come here, and the neighbors are familiar with them."

What makes Huang Decai more satisfied is the convenient medical service here. "If you are not feeling well, make a phone call and the medical staff will come, next to the hospital and pharmacy." Huang Decai said through the window, pointing to the opposite building.

Aiqile Herdsmen’s Pension Park has a total construction area of 30,000 square meters and 990 designed beds for the aged. Health service stations, activity centers, restaurants, supermarkets and other hardware in the park are fully equipped, forming a comprehensive service system for the aged that can meet the needs of the elderly, such as food, clothing, housing and transportation. The park was officially opened in September 2014, and 495 households and 828 elderly people have moved in, realizing that 70% of the elderly in the pastoral area of Sumu Town have moved to the city to provide for the elderly.

Li Xiaoyu, director of Bayan Chagan Sub-district Office, told me that in addition to the convenience and guarantee of food, clothing, housing and transportation, there are frequent community activities in the park every year. For example, carry out traditional folk activities such as offering sacrifices to fire and Aobao in off-year and competitions with national characteristics such as Galaha, Mongolian chess and Nadam conference; Encourage the production of handicrafts in the park, hold handicraft sewing competitions, set up exhibition areas in the comprehensive service center, and promote and sell handicrafts in the park as tourist commodities. "It enriches the spiritual and cultural life of herders, and the original ethnic customs make everyone get in, stay and be happier." Li Xiaoyu said.

It is learned that Aiqile Herdsmen’s Pension Park adopts market-oriented operation, and the service center signs occupancy agreements with elderly people who are willing to stay and meet the requirements, and each household charges 300 yuan every month; At the same time, the government also provides policy support and subsidizes large-scale maintenance, maintenance and operation in the park, which effectively reduces the economic burden of the elderly living in pastoral areas and reduces the cost of the elderly living in cities.

"We are still exploring this old-age care model. In the future, we plan to further improve hardware facilities and innovate old-age care services, so that old people can have a sense of gain, happiness and security here." Tang Guiju, director of Xilinhot Civil Affairs Bureau, said.
